Dreams open new doors
Which hearts can walk through
To sing a new song
When the real world
Rains down sorrow.

Spring
Buds are finally gracing tree limbs
And the sounds of birds are here once again
The cold still nips at your heels
But the sun grows warmer with each day
Thawing ground and vanishing snowbanks
Reveal grass that's ready to grow again
The fever is in the air
And it's only just the beginning of spring.
And the sounds of birds are here once again
The cold still nips at your heels
But the sun grows warmer with each day
Thawing ground and vanishing snowbanks
Reveal grass that's ready to grow again
The fever is in the air
And it's only just the beginning of spring.

Never In My Life
Never in my life
Have I found such strife
In a place where I am to be
I've never had problems being me
But here I find
That I'm truly in a bind
Hiding behind the mask
Too afraid to even ask
Why such things are here
But over time it's clear
I'm not meant to see
What lies ahead the path for me
So I shall wait
And slow my gait
Until the time to dine
On the prosperous feast which is mine.
Have I found such strife
In a place where I am to be
I've never had problems being me
But here I find
That I'm truly in a bind
Hiding behind the mask
Too afraid to even ask
Why such things are here
But over time it's clear

What lies ahead the path for me
So I shall wait
And slow my gait
Until the time to dine
On the prosperous feast which is mine.
Well Played
I've played it well yet again
The simple fine has done the trick
When inside I know I feel conflicted
Between the reality of it all
I know I have to be strong
Have to get through it all
Even though the valley
Seems to be turning into a pit
But I've got to keep on moving
There's quicksand underfoot
And it longs to swallow me whole
With a smile on my face
The who way down
The simple fine has done the trick
When inside I know I feel conflicted
Between the reality of it all
I know I have to be strong
Have to get through it all
Even though the valley
Seems to be turning into a pit
But I've got to keep on moving
There's quicksand underfoot
And it longs to swallow me whole
With a smile on my face
The who way down

Mistaken Identity
I've chosen to walk with Boredom
As if he were a suitable companion
One would say far better than Loneliness
Who only appears to remind you of your plight
Others far better Death
But at least he can make the road interesting
However short it may be.
But alas, Boredom and I walk together
Meeting Fate along the way
Who walks with Father Time
And there are others
Yet they keep their distance
From my companion and I.
Boredom is not a permanence
Bur rather a chosen companion
Replaced upon a while of fancy
Sometimes by Joy and other times by Grief
However, he is often mistaken for Contentment.
And upon searching myself and my companion
I realized, that I have make just such a mistake
What I've seen as Boredom is actually Contentment
And as a smile graces my heart
I continue walking onward
With my companion: Contentment.
As if he were a suitable companion

Nothing
I can't think of words to say
I don't even know if I have them
All that lies within
Are questions and confusion
How did we get to here?
To a road that has no answers
Life doesn't always have them
But where did this come from?
I don't even know if I have them
All that lies within
Are questions and confusion
How did we get to here?
To a road that has no answers
Life doesn't always have them
But where did this come from?

Stony Soil
Garden, Garden - what do you grow?
Your stony soil breeds weeds alone
Who knew such rough land would
Be yours to tend and sow?
The sun beats down, hot and strong
The rain beats down, cold and long
But the soil never grieves
Its stones which are solid and true
They make it barren but still hold tight
For that's exactly why they were placed
And nature gives no second chances
But man knows naught of these desires
One day, the soil will reach a potential;
When the hand of man intervenes
To cast the stones asunder.
Your stony soil breeds weeds alone
Who knew such rough land would
Be yours to tend and sow?
The sun beats down, hot and strong
The rain beats down, cold and long
But the soil never grieves
Its stones which are solid and true
They make it barren but still hold tight
For that's exactly why they were placed

But man knows naught of these desires
One day, the soil will reach a potential;
When the hand of man intervenes

Far out to Sea
Can I guide you through
This frozen artic
The wasteland you have
Lost yourself in?
Remind you of the man
I know and love
Regardless of what you feel
Can I show you the sun
And how the stars can dance
With laughter
Though your eyes are
Filled with tears?
Can I reach you
Or are you too far out
To sea?
This frozen artic
The wasteland you have
Lost yourself in?
Remind you of the man
I know and love
Regardless of what you feel
Can I show you the sun
And how the stars can dance
With laughter
Though your eyes are
Filled with tears?
Can I reach you
Or are you too far out
To sea?

Jealous Revelations
I've always wondered
Why yours was saved and cured
While mine was taken away
I've always been secretly jealous
That you didn't have to endure my pain
And it all seemed to work out
In the end and you have
What I have lost
And so desperately felt I needed.
But then I realized some things
Without this loss and pain
I would not have grown
Would not have married
Or fallen in love so deeply
Without this pain
I would not have been able to forge
The muscle needed
To stand up for myself
And stop the abide once and for all.
I also realized this:
I probably was given this pain
I was given this journey
Because I could handle it
And you could not.
So while I believe that some things
Will always be a tragedy
That broke my heart
Seeds were sewn to bloom
And make my life richer and fuller
Despite what I have lost.
Why yours was saved and cured
While mine was taken away
I've always been secretly jealous
That you didn't have to endure my pain
And it all seemed to work out

What I have lost

Summer Storms & Stars
The night becomes younger
As the daylight grows older
Summer invades the spring
Scorching swiftly with oppressive heat
Sunny skies give way to
Dark clouds and clapping thunder
With scattered bolts
Illuminating the dark sky
And even without the storm
The night glows brighter
With lighter shades offset
By white blotchy clouds
Stars seem to shine
As if this were their season
To bathe the earth
With ancient glow.

Westward
Single palms and dark dirt mountains
Sparsely cover red land
Paved with roads of promise and enterprise
Once trodden as dirt by shooed hooves
And weathered Americans
Clinging to bright hope and shared dreams.
What comes from sacrifice
Is a home
Built on prayers and faith
Of brighter days and better tomorrows
'Tis the west
The land scouted by few
And held in the awe of many
A legacy left by steel and determination:
The frontier that is ever held
With wonderment and promise
Sparsely cover red land
Paved with roads of promise and enterprise
Once trodden as dirt by shooed hooves
And weathered Americans
Clinging to bright hope and shared dreams.

I am a Writer
I have a deep seated need
For powerful alliteration
That moves mountains more than me
A love affair with the dash
That is commonly overlooked
For its extended continuation of the pause
By its crooked brother the comma.
I have a voice that
Speaks via Roman letters
Ascribed by a pen
I am a writer
And such is my calling
Nouns, verbs, adjectives
My tools to create the world
As seen through my own eyes.
A pen, a pen and not a sword
But rather a tool to illustrate
And unburden my soul
As the quiet seconds slip by.
They are my family, my tears
The words that fill the page
A reflection of my heard
And though they be but rambling
Sentences and syllables
Strung together on some form
They are my own - my solace, my peace
And forevermore they stay
The ink upon the page -
My etchings upon the subconscious of the world.

I Will Be There
I will be there
Even when you can't be there
For yourself
- I will be there
No matter how long it takes
Regardless of what we have to weather
The time and space doesn't matter
- I will be there
Even when you can't be there
For yourself
- I will be there
No matter how long it takes
Regardless of what we have to weather
The time and space doesn't matter
- I will be there

Bitter Enclosure
Do you ever have those day
Where it seems like curling up in a ball
And sobbing is something you think you need
To feel so trapped inside a box
Frustrated that there's no way out
Putting forth effort with minimal results?
This is my day, sometimes my life
I wish there were a key to this prison.
Where it seems like curling up in a ball
And sobbing is something you think you need
To feel so trapped inside a box
Frustrated that there's no way out
Putting forth effort with minimal results?
This is my day, sometimes my life
I wish there were a key to this prison.

Better with Age
Spring reminds me
How green I am
How new life is
And the beautiful the days are
That I get to spend with you
How our love continues to
Spring anew each day
And that our road ahead
Is barely explored
This is new
We are new and green
And like a great oak
We can only grow stronger
And better with age.
How green I am
How new life is
And the beautiful the days are
That I get to spend with you
How our love continues to
Spring anew each day
And that our road ahead
Is barely explored
This is new
We are new and green
And like a great oak
We can only grow stronger
And better with age.

Icing
It's raining ice
A subtle reflection of my mood
Falling and striking down
Melting where it lands
Melting cold
Unlike the hot tears
That have flowed this morning
The detraction isn't enough
To note all that much difference
The rain has been hurt
Turned to ice
By the clouds that once
Held it safe.
A subtle reflection of my mood
Falling and striking down
Melting where it lands
Melting cold
Unlike the hot tears
That have flowed this morning
The detraction isn't enough
To note all that much difference
The rain has been hurt
Turned to ice

Can You See the Stars?
I hope that wherever you are
You can see the stars as plainly as I
How brightly the belt of Orion stretches
Out across the sky
And Venus shines brightly down
Eclipsing the light of the north star.
I hope that you feel the same peace I do
Knowing that only time separates us
And one day we will see each other again
Walking hand in hand down the aisles of the stars
Like we were meant to here on earth.
You can see the stars as plainly as I
How brightly the belt of Orion stretches
Out across the sky
And Venus shines brightly down
Eclipsing the light of the north star.
I hope that you feel the same peace I do

Fade
Time fades the leaves to a soft brown
And the sun bleaches out the grass
To make way for the distance of winter
Greens gives way to shades of red and amber
Rain to snow and warmth to cold
Each it's own master of a season
A change, a fade from one to the other.
And the sun bleaches out the grass
To make way for the distance of winter
Greens gives way to shades of red and amber
Rain to snow and warmth to cold
Each it's own master of a season
A change, a fade from one to the other.

Sleepy Live Ode
When silence falls on darkened eyes
Memories of warmth in moonlight
Pervade the sleeping mind
Of shallow breaths and long kisses
Once partaken like forbidden ambrosia
In secret by a lake calm beneath the stars.
As the eyelids droop moments become dreams
Invading the subconscious with love and life
Deepening connection and bond
That already runs deep into the soul
And peace descends like snow
Falling gently on sleepy hearts of old.
Oh! To when love turns to memory
And fades from life to dreams
Caused by distance of two hearts
Bound by more than romance, sewn as one
But now to sleep and in dreams reunite
Until arms clench the breast of love once more.
Memories of warmth in moonlight
Pervade the sleeping mind
Of shallow breaths and long kisses
Once partaken like forbidden ambrosia
In secret by a lake calm beneath the stars.
As the eyelids droop moments become dreams
Invading the subconscious with love and life
Deepening connection and bond
That already runs deep into the soul
And peace descends like snow
Falling gently on sleepy hearts of old.
Oh! To when love turns to memory
And fades from life to dreams
Caused by distance of two hearts
Bound by more than romance, sewn as one
But now to sleep and in dreams reunite
Until arms clench the breast of love once more.
